NORTHERN EXPOSURE | Raiders sign NT speedster Dion Munkara
WODONGA Raiders have secured the signature of Northern Territory speedster Dion Munkara on the final day of the clearance deadline.
Munkara played alongside prized Raiders recruit Ross Tungatalum for the Tiwi Bombers in the NTFL over the summer this year.
His most recent match was for Maryborough in the Bendigo league on Anzac Day.
Raiders coach Daryn Cresswell could not be contacted for comment yesterday.
It remains unclear if Munkara could be rushed into the line-up for Saturday’s blockbuster against North Albury at Birallee Park.
Maryborough president Terry Hillier said Munkara had left a lasting impression in his one match for the Magpies.
“Unfortunately he only played one game for us but impressed by kicking two goals in a wet game,” Hillier said.
“We were keen to get him back for further games but it never eventuated.
“He still lives up north and flights to get him back were too expensive.

“He is only slightly built but has terrific goal sense and is lightning quick.
“He also has the ability to play further up the ground on a wing or even rotate through the middle.”
Munkara played 17 matches for the Tiwi Bombers this season and featured in their best on seven occasions.
Meanwhile former Corowa-Rutherglen star David Clark has been cleared back to the Roos.
Clark last played at John Foord Oval in 2010.
Mrytleford recruit Willie Thorne has lodged a clearance to return to Western Australia and join Toodyay in the Mortlock football league.
The lively small forward kicked 13 goals in 10 matches for the Saints.
